Religious School

We at the Congregation Beth Hatikvah religious school believe in a providing a comprehensive Jewish education for each child. While small, our school strives to meet the needs of each individual child through the use of specialized curricula and one-on-one learning. This year we are proud to introduce the URJ-produced CHAI program for teaching Jewish studies. Additionally, we have introduced Behrman House’s Hineni program for Hebrew. Both of these curricula, along with teacher supplements, provide a rich structure for religious school learning and will give each of our children a solid and meaningful Jewish foundation and experiences.

The Congregation Beth Hatikvah Religious School is a supplementary school which focuses on educating PreK through Bar/ Bat Mitzvah. Our school curriculum includes six core areas:

  • Holidays & Symbols
  • Prayer & God
  • Jewish Values
  • Hebrew
  • Jewish Customs & Practices
  • Bible & History

A typical schedule begins with a 30 minute service in our sanctuary, then 2 hours of class time. For our youngest students, Hebrew is integrated into the daily agenda. For the older students , the class day is divided into Hebrew and Judaic studies. Our class is concluded special announcements and closing song. In addition, throughout the year we take field trips to special area events and special programs with other religious schools.

See the Religious Education calendar here.

Gan K'tan (Preschool)

We have introduced an exciting new program to our school this year - Gan K'tan! This is a once a month pre-school program for tots and their parents, ages 6 months to pre-K. In conjunction with Hadassah, we teach an age-appropriate curriculum that targets our youngest children and also involves their parents in learning.
